Z.N.STAIN (AFB)

Z.N. Stain (AFB) is a laboratory staining test used to detect acid-fast bacilli, particularly Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes tuberculosis (TB). It may be recommended when symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, night sweats, or unexplained weight loss suggest TB. The test helps visualize acid-fast bacteria in a clinical sample under a microscope. Results should be interpreted along with symptoms and other TB investigations.
