TROPONIN I

Troponin I is a blood test used to detect injury to the heart muscle. It may be recommended when symptoms such as chest pain, pressure, shortness of breath, sweating, or unusual weakness raise concern about a heart problem. Elevated Troponin I can indicate heart muscle damage, although other conditions may also cause an increase. Results should be interpreted urgently along with symptoms, ECG, and other cardiac findings.
