THROAT SWAB FOR AFB

Throat Swab for AFB (Acid-Fast Bacilli) is a laboratory test used to examine a throat sample for acid-fast bacteria, particularly Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It may be considered when tuberculosis is suspected but an appropriate respiratory sample is difficult to obtain. The sample is examined for evidence of TB bacteria. Results should be interpreted along with symptoms, medical history, and other TB investigations.
