HSV IgG (Herpes Simplex Virus IgG) is a blood test used to detect IgG antibodies against HSV, indicating previous exposure to the virus. It may be recommended when there is a history of symptoms such as recurrent blisters, sores, or when assessing possible past exposure. A positive result generally indicates previous infection but does not determine when the infection occurred. Results should be interpreted along with symptoms and medical history.
