HAEMOGRAM (COMPLETE)
A Haemogram (Complete Blood Count – CBC) is a comprehensive blood test that evaluates the overall health status by analyzing different components of blood. It measures key parameters such as hemoglobin (Hb), red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), hematocrit (HCT), platelets, and red cell indices like MCV, MCH, and MCHC. This test provides a detailed picture of blood composition and is one of the most commonly recommended diagnostic investigations.
The haemogram helps in detecting a wide range of conditions including anemia, infections, inflammation, bleeding disorders, and certain blood-related diseases. Abnormal values in any of the parameters can indicate underlying health issues such as nutritional deficiencies, bone marrow disorders, or chronic illnesses. Doctors often advise this test during routine health check-ups, before surgeries, or when symptoms like fatigue, fever, weakness, or unexplained illness are present.
The test is simple, quick, and requires only a small blood sample. Accurate and timely results enable healthcare professionals to diagnose conditions early, monitor treatment progress, and ensure effective management of a patient’s overall health.
