GBP
The General Blood Picture (GBP) test is a comprehensive blood examination that provides an overall assessment of blood cells, including red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets. It also evaluates the shape, size, and appearance of these cells under a microscope, helping doctors detect abnormalities that may not be identified in routine automated tests.
This test is especially useful in diagnosing various conditions such as anemia, infections, inflammatory diseases, and certain blood disorders like leukemia. Changes in the morphology (structure) of blood cells can give important clues about underlying health issues, including nutritional deficiencies, bone marrow disorders, or chronic illnesses. It is often recommended when routine blood tests show abnormal results or when detailed evaluation is required.
The GBP test is simple and requires a small blood sample. It is usually performed alongside a Complete Blood Count (CBC) to provide more detailed insights. Accurate and timely results help doctors make precise diagnoses and ensure effective treatment and patient care.
