CPK-NAC
The CPK-NAC test measures the level of creatine phosphokinase (CPK), also known as creatine kinase (CK), in the blood using the NAC (N-acetylcysteine) activated method. CPK is an enzyme found mainly in the heart, brain, and skeletal muscles, and it is released into the bloodstream when these tissues are damaged.
Elevated CPK levels may indicate muscle injury, heart conditions such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), muscular disorders, or intense physical activity. It can also be increased in conditions like myositis, trauma, or after surgery. Doctors often recommend this test when a patient experiences symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, chest pain, or suspected cardiac or muscle damage.
The CPK-NAC test is simple and requires a small blood sample. Accurate results help doctors detect tissue damage, differentiate between muscle and cardiac causes, monitor treatment, and ensure proper management of related conditions.
