CPK-MB
The CPK-MB test measures a specific isoenzyme of creatine kinase that is primarily found in heart muscle cells. It is used as an important marker to detect damage to the heart muscle, especially in conditions such as myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Elevated CPK-MB levels usually indicate heart muscle injury and may rise within a few hours after a heart attack. It can also be slightly increased in conditions like myocarditis, cardiac surgery, or severe muscle injury. This test is often used along with other cardiac markers such as troponin for accurate diagnosis and monitoring of heart-related conditions.
The CPK-MB test is simple and requires a small blood sample. Accurate results help doctors diagnose heart muscle damage, monitor recovery, and guide appropriate treatment for cardiac conditions.
