COAGULATION PROFILE
The Coagulation Profile is a group of blood tests used to evaluate the body’s ability to form blood clots and stop bleeding. It typically includes tests such as Prothrombin Time (PT), Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT), and sometimes INR (International Normalized Ratio). These tests help assess the functioning of clotting factors and the overall hemostatic system.
This profile is commonly recommended before surgeries, in patients with unexplained bleeding or bruising, liver disorders, or those on blood-thinning medications. Abnormal results may indicate bleeding disorders, clotting abnormalities, vitamin K deficiency, or liver disease. It is also useful in monitoring patients receiving anticoagulant therapy.
The Coagulation Profile test is simple and requires a small blood sample. Accurate and timely results help doctors diagnose clotting disorders, monitor treatment, and ensure safe medical and surgical procedures.
