CMV IgM (Cytomegalovirus IgM) is a blood test used to detect IgM antibodies against cytomegalovirus, which may indicate a recent or current infection. It may be recommended when CMV infection is suspected, especially during pregnancy or when symptoms suggest an infection. A positive result does not always confirm a recent primary infection and may require additional testing. Results should be interpreted along with IgG, symptoms, and medical history.
