Alb /Creatinine Rati
The Albumin/Creatinine Ratio (ACR) test measures the amount of albumin (a protein) relative to creatinine in a urine sample. It is used to detect small amounts of protein in urine (microalbuminuria) and provides a more accurate assessment than a simple urine protein test, as it accounts for urine concentration.
An increased ACR indicates early kidney damage, especially in conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. It is one of the most important tests for detecting diabetic nephropathy at an early stage, even before symptoms appear. Normal levels suggest healthy kidney function, while higher levels may require further evaluation and treatment.
The test is simple and requires a random urine sample, usually without the need for a 24-hour collection. Accurate results help doctors diagnose early kidney disease, monitor progression, and guide treatment to protect kidney function and overall health.
