ABO
The ABO Blood Group test is used to determine a person’s blood type based on the presence or absence of specific antigens on the surface of red blood cells. The main blood groups identified are A, B, AB, and O. This test is essential for safe blood transfusions, organ transplants, and various medical procedures, as incompatible blood types can lead to serious health complications.
In addition to identifying the blood group, this test is often performed along with Rh typing (positive or negative) to provide a complete blood profile. Knowing one’s blood group is also important during pregnancy to prevent complications such as Rh incompatibility between mother and baby.
The ABO test is simple, quick, and requires a small blood sample. Accurate results are crucial for ensuring compatibility in blood transfusions and for providing safe and effective medical care.
